🇨🇿 CZ / Banket slaví sedm let. Mnohé fáze, kterými za tu dobu prošel, byly čistý gamble. Získaná zkušenost, jen podpořila vnímání Ostravy jako města, které na gamblu od svého uhelného boomu přímo stojí. Nezdá se ani, že by se na tom mělo něco změnit. Prostě to tak je. Sedmička je šťastné číslo a štěstí to chce dost, pokud je jedinou schůdnou cestou právě gamble. Když se na hráče štěstí usměje, je třeba slavit. Oolongbru z pražského labelu YUKU na line upu je přesně ten moment.
YUKU pojímají hudbu jako mnohovrstevnatý zážitek, který spojuje tvůrce z různých oborů. Podobně přistupuje i oolongbru ke svým setům se schopností obsáhnout halftime, hybrid bass, techno, ambient, IDM, jungle a jiné formy bass music. Elektronická hudba a její jednotlivé žánry mají podle YUKU bohatou a provázanou historii. Na základě několika akcí, na kterých jsme byli a kde oolongbru hrál, bychom jen dodali, že to neurčité něco, co se prolíná jeho sety a z velké části i výstupem celého labelu, má charakteristický UK/hardcore continuum nádech. Výsledný sound se neuzamyká v bezpečné a nevyčerpatelné hardcore will never die nostalgii, ale dál mutuje, a nasává různorodé, proměnlivé vlivy.

🇬🇧 EN / Banket is celebrating seven years of existence and those seven years of organizing gigs in Ostrava were oftentimes pure gamble, as is the underlying principle of the whole city. It was built on gamble in the heyday of coal mining boom and we’re convinced gamble is here to stay. Seven is said to be a lucky number and one surely does need luck when the only way through is to gamble. Luck comes and goes. Onceyou have it, it’s time to celebrate. With Oolongbru from the Prague-based YUKU label headlining the b-day night, there is no doubt we’re on the winning side of the game.
YUKU approach music as a multi-layered experience. Oolongbru treats his sets, ranging from halftime, hybrid bass, and techno to ambient, IDM, jungle and other forms of bass music, and beyond, in similar fashion. “Rich and connective history in the electronic music”, is an important constituent of the label’s music taste. It makes it all fit together. Having attended several of their gigs, we dare say this connective something that characterizes both Oolongbru’s sets as well as majority of the label’s output is of distinctively UK/hardcore continuum flavour. The sound that comes out isn’t locked up in safe and endless hardcore will never die nostalgia, though. It twists, quirks and mutates to be malleable enough to absorb a truly wide palette of ever-changing influences.
